The Nunavik Housing Bureau is planning a $105M budget for several renovations

Published on 19 July 2024

Kuujjuaq, Quebec (April 25th, 2024) – The Nunavik Housing Bureau (NHB), whose mandate is to serve the 14 Inuit communities through the acquisition, administration and maintenance of residential buildings made available to individuals and families, confirms a planned budget of $105M from the Société d’habitation du Québec (SHQ).  This investment will be used towards major and minor renovation projects in more than 140 housing units spread across all Nunavik communities.

The request for this budget is made possible thanks to the contribution of the federal and provincial levels of government which have identified an overall envelope for the period from 2022 to 2028 of $3.2G in housing projects on Quebec territory. “This historic amount reflects the undeniable competence of the NHB to manage the planning of the needs and work of its real estate portfolio as well as the respect of its mission and the commitment of its board of directors to be most responsible towards the population and the territory of Nunavik,” explains Lupin Daignault, Director of Real Estate and Renovations.
