Housing Assistant/
Services Client Services

Status: Temporary / Full time (35hrs/week)

Department: Client Services

Direct supervisor: Assistant Director

Location: Kuujjuaraapik

The Nunavik Housing Bureau (NHB) provides comfortable, safe and affordable homes adapted to Inuit needs and culture. Through its programs and services, it contributes to the development of vibrant, sustainable and safe communities.

FUNCTION & RESPONSABILITIES

  • Welcoming tenants, applicants and visitors. Provide information and/or assistance whenever requested (applications, account balances, NHB information, etc.).
  • Answer phone calls and emails from tenants, applicants and third parties. Provide information and/or assistance whenever requested (applications, account balances, NHB information, etc.).
  • Collect the rent and issue rent receipts.
  • Issue Work Orders when tenants, maintenance workers or NHB reports a problem. Follow up with Maintenance when needed.
  • Assist the Housing Manager with control and completion of work orders and record the data in the system (closing Work Orders).
  • Keep the tenant files in order and up-to-date.
  • Prepare rebate forms, contact tenants and take any necessary measure to help them gather the required documents for the rebate.
  • Contact and remind tenants of rents due and of their rent arrears. Make payment arrangements with the tenants and prepare any necessary document(s).
  • Inform the Housing Manager of any damages (i.e.: houses, vehicles, equipment, tools, materials, etc.).
  • Carry out various secretarial and clerical duties.
  • Keep the Housing Manager and/or Supervisor informed of all their work activities.
  • Carry out any related work as requested by the Housing Manager or Supervisor.
  • Assist the Client Services team with any other task when requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Secondary V diploma or pertinent experience in replacement of diploma
  • Two (2) years of experience ideally related to Clients Services department or activities

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work in two of the three languages of the region (Inuktitut, French or English)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Willing to travel for training or meetings
  • Valid driver’s license required or the obligation to take a driver’s course when one is offered
